On June
19, 2007, the Office of Public and Indian Housing, Office of Housing Voucher Programs
had the first Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) forum. The purpose of the forum is
to maintain and ensure open lines of communication between HUD and its practitioners
regarding issues and recommendations for improvements in the Section 8 program.
These forums are not designed to reach consensus on any HUD policy, rather it
is to discuss each Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) individual experiences in administering
the HCV program. The forum will meet quarterly to share program issues and concerns
ranging from core administrative and financial issues to the content and lay-out
of the HCV web page.
Currently, we are finalizing the plans for the next
forum scheduled to take place on November 1-2, 2007. All participants who attended
the first forum will be invited to participate in the upcoming forum because we
initially asked the first group of participants for a commitment of one year.
Regrettably, due to limited space, we could only invite a small number of additional
PHAs to participate. However, PHAs interested in participating in future forums,
