HUD Privacy

HUD accomplishes its mission while embedding and enforcing privacy protections and transparency in all HUD activities. All HUD information technology systems, technologies, rulemakings, programs, pilot projects, information collections, information sharing activities, or forms that collect personally identifiable information or have a privacy impact are subject to the oversight of the Chief Privacy Officer and the requirements of U.S. data privacy and disclosure laws.

Mission

The mission of the HUD Privacy Program is to safeguard the information of individuals collected by the Department. This effort includes maintaining compliance with all Federal privacy requirements and empowering HUD personnel with knowledge about privacy responsibilities.

Vision

The vision of the HUD Privacy Program is to cultivate a strong culture of privacy protection throughout the Department by providing a risk-based, enterprise-wide program founded upon privacy best practices. HUD strives to foster public trust by maintaining data transparency and minimizing confidentiality risk.
