Championing Faith, Freedom, and Fair Housing for all Americans

Washington – U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner today recognized April as Fair Housing Month, unveiling this year’s theme: “Faith, Freedom, & Fair Housing.” Secretary Turner marked the historical milestone with a message reaffirming HUD’s responsibility to uphold the Fair Housing Act and the department’s ongoing commitment to support a free and fair housing market as part of the Golden Age of American homeownership.

The Fair Housing Act, enacted on April 11, 1968, prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, or disability.
