Department of Housing and Urban Development Washington, D.C. 20410-8000 January 5, 1995 OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR HOUSING-FEDERAL HOUSING COMMISSIONER Mortgagee Letter 95-02 TO: ALL APPROVED MORTGAGEES ATTENTION: SERVICING MANAGERS (Single Family) SUBJECT: Consolidation of 1995 Preservation and Protection Guidelines and Cost Schedules and Post-Endorsement Fees and Charges Since 1987, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has been working toward strengthening controls over preservation and protection amounts the Department reimburses on FHA single family insurance claims. As you know, the Regional Preservation and Protection Guidelines and Cost Schedules were issued annually by the respective Regional Offices. In view of the fact that the Regional Offices have been phased out under the current reorganization of the Department, HUD will not be issuing separate Regional Preservation and Protection Guidelines and Cost Schedules for 1995. This year, each local HUD office's Preservation and Protection Guidelines and Cost Schedules will be consolidated into one document and issued to all lenders in the form of a Mortgagee Letter from HUD Headquarters. This issuance will also include all local HUD office's post-endorsement fees and charges. The national 1995 Preservation and Protection Guidelines and Cost Schedules will be issued in early 1995. Until such time that the Mortgagee Letter is issued, the 1994 Regional Guidelines and Cost Schedules remain in effect and lenders are to continue following those guidelines. Should you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact the Production and REO Chief at the local HUD office. Sincerely yours, Nicolas P. Retsinas Assistant Secretary for Housing - Federal Housing Commissioner
